The first #AIChallengeDays in June were a great success for the still young AICommunityOWL. Exciting solutions for #smartbuilding and #smartindustry have emerged and are currently being transferred into reality. Now the next #AIChallengeDays are coming up. Thomas Bischoff gives you an overview of the program and upcoming new events.

The pandemic has also turned our everyday life as an industrial company upside down. We have had to face many new challenges. In blog posts from various areas of the company, we’ll show you what we’ve learned along the way.

When we started AICommunityOWL in spring, face-to-face meetings were still allowed. However, as things developed we quickly had to switch from analog to digital meetings. Fortunately for us, a hackathon can also take place online!

At the first #AIChallengeDays in June, there was another challenge in the Smart Building area from Phoenix Contact. The teams were to develop solutions to operate elevators more intelligently in the future. In this specific case, the challenge involved one of the most automated buildings in Europe: Building 4 of Phoenix Contact Electronics in Bad Pyrmont. Implementation of the winning team’s solution is planned for next year. The winners – all students – are still in the middle of their master’s studies. At the same time, the community is already devoting itself to the next challenges at the second #AIChallengeDays.

Time2Innovate

The new slogan is #Time2Innovate. An inspiring YouTube video is already available, and you can feel the pulse of AI.

From November 27th to 29th, you can unleash your smart algorithms live on real industrial data, network with the community and companies, and win great prizes. This time, the data will be provided by Emerson/Aventics and the AI real lab of SmartFactoryOWL.

Not too much is being revealed yet, but there is already a small spoiler: The first challenge comes from the area of air pressure supply / pneumatic components in industrial production plants. Of course, there will also be a small supporting program, including a keynote speech by Prof. Dr. habil. Andreas Welling from the TH OWL, Lemgo. Another keynote is in preparation.

Everyone can participate, whether you are an AI professional or a rookie! You know Python, Google Colab or Kaggle? Or math is your hobby? Do you like data analysis? Or just want to have a look? – Welcome to the #AIChallengeDays!

The community has grown into an artificial intelligence network, from beginners to data science professors. If you want to give AI a try, this is the place to be. The teams help each other. Additionally, competent help from the universities of OWL is available for discussions and tips. The winners can expect attractive prizes and the opportunity to implement their found solutions in the AI real lab at SmartFactoryOWL in Lemgo.

We are looking forward to seeing you. Click here to register. Participation is free of charge.

But that’s not all, already at the beginning of next year there will be another new format. If you want to stay informed, follow the community on Twitter at @aicommunityowl.

See you at the 2nd #AIChallengeDays
