Together with Founders Foundation, KI.NRW is hosting the first KI Meetup NRW on May 15, 2023. With leading experts from the EdTech industry, the networking event in Bielefeld will focus on how AI is shaking up the world of education and what opportunities it can open up for teachers and learners.

Since the launch of ChatGPT at the end of last year, artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on higher education and schooling has been the talk of the town, as freely available AI challenges many learning and testing methods and, above all, confronts teachers with new tasks and challenges. Banning AI will not be possible and is not advisable, as its influence will grow and students will need to learn how to use tools like ChatGPT as well as numeracy and literacy.

But AI is also revolutionizing the education industry beyond ChatGPT: AI-based learning programs can, for example, create individual learning paths that adapt to learners’ strengths, weaknesses and learning styles. The same is true for AI-based tests, whose levels automatically adjust according to examinees’ progress. And AI applications can also help with the creation of training materials, which can be used especially for internal skills management in companies.

Sounds exciting? Then you’ve come to the right place: In cooperation with Founders Foundation and its EdTech Next Startup program, the first AI Meetup NRW offers insights into current AI and EdTech trends and their technologies in short presentations and startup pitches. Experts will discuss how AI can contribute to making teaching as a whole more effective, efficient and at the same time more personalized, and startups will present innovative AI solutions that are already being used successfully in education and training. Afterwards, there will be plenty of room for personal exchange and networking over snacks and drinks.

With the new event format “KI Meetup NRW”, the AICommunityOWL and KI.NRW want to strengthen the AI ecosystem in NRW and beyond and network interested players across industries. The after-work event relies on concise short presentations and start-up pitches to discuss current AI trends and application potential. The focus is on personal encounters. In the future, the event will take place in different locations on different topics.
